Getting started with a website is easy. Here's the basic steps you go through building and launching a site with Webs.

Sign up for a Webs account.

Once your Webs account is open, then you start building your website.

After choosing a title for your site, you'll choose a design (i.e. a template. There are many templates to choose from).

With the free version, you have access to over 300 designs. If you upgrade to a paid version, you get access to more designs.

Once you choose your design, you'll choose your Web pages (you can easily add pages to your site).

You get the following with the free basic package:

  • Website builder

  • 40 mb storage

  • 30 minutes video storage

  • 5 Web store items

  • Forum support
After you choose your package, the online website builder loads and you can start building your website.

Once you're finished with setting up your template, title, and footer information, you'll be taken to your website dashboard / site manager.

Webs Site Manager

In the site manager, you access your various pages where you then enter your content. It's also where you add pages. This is a very user-friendly panel. In fact Webs is simply put: user friendly. I built a website in under 30 minutes with Webs.

The content builder used within a new Web page is easy to use with drag and drop technology.

Webs Content Box Builder

The content box is where you place content such as text, images, video, or a combination.

The options are many for configuring your content boxes.

  • Choose the number of columns you want for each content box (note you can add more than one content box on a Web page);

  • You add content with the easy-to-use content editor (bold, italics, font size, etc.)

  • Dictate number of content boxes on a Web page. For example, you can start with a single width and then place 2 column content boxes underneath. The format is entirely up to you.

  • Select where to insert photos and video.

  • Essentially, you configure and then publish your content. Note, the screenshot immediately above is the formatting page for a Web page (not a blog post).
You Can Add More Functionality to Your Webs Site:

When you add a page, you'll be presented several page types to choose from.

In the site dashboard, you can add on various applications.

Add a blog

You can add a link to your blog in your top navigation bar and/or your sidebar.

Sidebar Customization

Webs has some built-in sidebar widgets you can insert or create a custom sidebar and place whatever content you want.

The sidebar widget modules you can use include:

  • News and Weather;

  • Donation button (using PayPal);

  • Facebook Fan Page Box; and

  • Share and Bookmark.
Other Add On Applications in Webs

  • Contact form;

  • CafePress;

  • FreshBooks online scheduler;

  • Etsy Store;

  • Forum;

  • Plus more.
Should You Upgrade Your Webs Package?

If you're building a website for your business, you should upgrade for the following 3 key reasons:

  1. Use a custom domain name. This is key. It simply looks more professional.

  2. You don't want ads on your business website.

  3. You can only use meta tags in a premium package. Meta tags are important for search engine optimization.
